Altru Construction is a Southern California general engineering contractor specializing in underground infrastructure, including water, sewer and storm drain pipelines, precast structures, and related civil construction.

A Contractor Clients Rely On To Deliver

Construction comes down to the fundamentals, plan the work, communicate clearly, build it right, and do what’s right for the project.

Altru combines proven principles and processes that keep our field teams, clients, and project partners informed and working toward the same goal.

What Altru Construction Means

Straight. True. Real. Benevolent.

The name Altru reflects how we want to build and how we want to do business.

Straight & True — Like our work, our actions should be straight, square and true. We communicate directly, set clear expectations, and stand behind what we build.

Real — Construction happens in the real world. Plans change, conditions change, and problems happen. We deal with them honestly, communicate early, and work toward solutions.

BenevolentAltru is rooted in the idea of concern for others - for our customers, our team, their families, and the communities where we work. Why? Because a successful company should create value beyond itself.

Building a Company People Want to Be Part Of

Built around the people who do the work.

We expect a lot from our team, but we also believe hard work deserves the respect, opportunity, and recognition that many employees don’t receive. We want Altru to be a place where good people enjoy coming to work, high performers can build meaningful careers, and experienced teams stay together to become exceptional.

Our long-term measure of success is bigger than the projects we complete. We want our employees to say, “This is the best place I’ve ever worked,” and our customers to say, “Altru is the first company I call.”

Brad Oien | Founder

Brad Oien began his career in general engineering construction in 2013 while studying Construction Engineering Management at California State University, Long Beach.

His career has taken him across multiple sides of the construction industry, from owner side construction management and heavy civil contracting, to infrastructure manufacturing, material supply and field services. Along the way, he has worked with project teams delivering civil infrastructure projects in both public and private markets.

Brad earned his California General Engineering “A” contractor license in 2017, but intentionally waited to start his own contracting company. Instead, he spent the following years broadening his experience, learning from contractors and understanding construction from varying perspectives.

After earning his Executive MBA from the University of California, Irvine in 2025, Brad founded Altru Construction to put those experiences to work in one organization.
